   Self-discipline is not only important in the area of maintaining a healthy lifestyle. We need it in all other areas of our lives as well. One dictionary defines self-discipline as “the ability to be in control and keep motivated, to stay on track and do what is right.” The best way is to start exercising self-control in one area of our life at the time—one day at a time. No matter what area we decide to exercise more self-control in, if we stick with it, we will soon see improvement. As we train ourselves in one area, other areas will also benefit. We may manage our time better, make fewer excuses, be more patient with those around us, and have the mental strength to achieve other goals as well.
